Vhalla Yarl should be everything that I relate with: book lover, caring, not the most assertive, clumsy and smart. Out of all the points that I was told were divisive, character was the main one, particularly the protagonist.

Her magic has not existed in so long, but Vhalla must now choose two paths: eradicate her magic and stay in the library or join the Tower and learn to wield her magic. However, the one she saved, heir to the throne Aldrik, is determined to set Vhalla on a path towards the Tower. It seems that Vhalla’s writings have the essence of magic, something that terrifies Vhalla: she has always been taught as a commoner not to trust magic. Vhalla, mistakenly believing that it is Baldair her Heartbreaker prince, puts all of her effort into finding any information on it, and upon finishing is snatched up by Minister Victor of the Tower of Sorceries. All the library staff are awoken during the night to find a cure for a poison after a prince comes back injured from an unknown toxin. She loves her life here, with her close friends Roan and Sareem, and had a recent brush with a prince who saved her from a clumsy accident. Vhalla Yarl is far from this, having been part of the library apprentices in the palace in the capitol after her mother’s death from Autumn Fever and her father being recruited into the army. The Solaris Empire rules much of the land apart from the North which holds out against it resulting in war. Air Awakens by Elise Kova is the first in the series of the same name set on a continent divided by compass points.
